Lee Vining...Here We Come!

Every year for memorial day we go camping in a little place in the Eastern Sierra Nevada's, close to Yosemite, called Lee Vining. It is so beautiful there, with lots of trees and streams and lakes all around. Tomorrow night we will pack up and head out for a long weekend trip in the mountains. It is so nice and relaxing there and we cant wait!

Is it Sunday?

I woke up to my alarm this morning at 6:15am, and immediately turned it off because I thought it was Sunday. Tyson had to push me out of bed to get ready for work. I usually wake up to Ryder playing in his crib around 5:30am (everyday). Ryder goes to bed early, but he also likes to wake up early, but this morning he slept in too. We were so busy this weekend, that I thought we had one more day to relax...or at least I was hoping.

This is going to be a 3 day week at work for me, and then we are off to our yearly Lee Vining camping trip. That will be a nice relaxing time, and we are really looking forward to it.

18 Month Check-Up

Although Ryder is now 19 months old, he had his 18 month well check doctor visit today. We hate these visits more than anything because it means getting SHOTS! Tyson is such a trooper to take him and comfort him during these visits. When Ryder was born, he had Jaundice so bad that we had to keep him on light therapy in our home for the first couple weeks of his life. He also had to go in to have daily heel pricks for blood tests. I went to the first one and completely broke down (I don't know if it was the hormones or an over protective mama bear instinct), so poor Tyson had to take poor little Ryder everyday after that, because I couldn't handle it. I truly believe when your children get shots, get hurt, have surgeries, etc, it is harder on you than it is on your child. I aways wish I could switch places with him when he is hurt.

I have to thank my wonderful hubby for being my reporter today. Here are Ryder's stats:

Height: 35.5 inches (97th percentile)
Weight: 31 pounds (93rd percentile)
Head Circumference: 49.75 cm (89th percentile)

Ryder got to stand on the big boy scale today and not lay on the baby scale anymore. The doc cleared him for peanut butter, so that is very exciting, and told us Ryder is very tall and big for his age.

Random

- We had a good weekend camping and spending time together, but will probably never return to those sites again. Lots of teenagers doing crazy stuff, no privacy from the campers to the right and left of you, and it was overcast and cool all weekend.

- The weather this week has been cool and rainy...I'm having a hard time accepting it, when it should be about 80 already.

- Tyson has one more week left of school, this semester. Woohoo!

- This weekend we are having a big family celebration in honor of my cousin Morgan who has lived in Florida for a long time, joined the Marines, and just got based in Camp Pendelton. This will be the first time we have seen her in years.

- Ryder just turned 19 months this week, and has his 18 month check up tomorrow. You know what that means...? SHOTS! We all hate those dumb shots!

- We are getting ready for camping in Lee Vining (near Mammoth) for Memorial Day weekend. Its always a good time and such a lovely area. Let the packing and preparations begin.

- Ryder is still loving his baths! He loves gargling, playing with his cups, horsey, Tomas the Train, and light up duckies. He also loves taking the washcloth and washing himself. He is such a big helper!

San Onofre Bluffs

Tomorrow the Remmert's are off for a weekend of camping in San Onofre, right on the bluffs overlooking the ocean. We love camping and are looking forward to a fun weekend at the beach, and since we are fairly close to home, the rest of the family will be visiting us on Saturday. Yay!

Mothers Day

This post is a couple days late, but Happy Mother's Day to all you Mommy's out there!

My family celebrated Mother's day with my parents, my brother Jim & his girlfriend Kelly, and my sister Chelsea & her fiance Daniel. We had a lovely brunch and then enjoyed each others company until the early afternoon, when everyone dispursed to go celebrate with other special mothers in their life. I got a mountain bike from my lovely husband and wonderful boys, and some very beautiful flowers, and a manicure/pedicure gift certificate. I'm a very lucky lady. We also received some very exciting news...more to come on that later.

On a side not, the family is getting together to celebrate my birthday. I'm so excited that everyone was able to make it. We are going to have Antonucci's pizza (the best ever!), Salad, and Mud Pie for desert...yum yum! I cant wait.

The Start of a New Era

Today is my birthday. My 30th Birthday to be exact. I've decided that this is a good thing. This marks the start of a whole new decade! Last decade was pretty great I graduated college, met Tyson, got married, bought a house, and welcomed Ryder to the world. Those are all very big and exciting things. I'm expecting this new decade to be even better. There's a lot in store for us Remmert's, were planning a big move, possibly welcoming a new addition or two to our family, looking at some new careers, and lots of fun times together. Hello 30, nice to meet you...its going to be a fun ride!

Happy May

I think MAY is a great month because the weather gets warmer, the flowers are in bloom, and it holds my Birthday, Mother's day, and Memorial Day to name a few of the very great days in MAY!

I LOVE Monday!

I know most people hate Mondays, and I was one of those people, but now I really LOVE them! The reason I now LOVE Monday's is because I get to leave work early (around 1pm) and be with my son the rest of the afternoon. Tyson goes to school on Monday nights, so I get off early to watch Ryder. I LOVE getting those extra 4 hours with him on Mondays, that I dont get any other day during the week! We spend our mother/son time exploring the hills and wooded areas outside our house, collecting sticks and rocks, watching Cars or Shrek (his favorites), having a treat. We have lots of fun together, and I really cherish our Monday afternoons together.
